Michael has been involved with the party for several years. He is also vice chair of Highland precinct. He’s a frequent presence at headquarters and, of course, Liberal Libations. Outside of politics, Michael operates an investment fund, is a member of Catawba Freedom Readers and serves on several boards.
Flavia Dietrich, 1st Vice Chair

Flavia has been involved with Catawba County Democrats for some time and currently serves as 1st Vice Chair. Furthermore, she has served as precinct chair of Lake Norman, member of Democratic Women of Catawba County and League of Women Voters. Outside of politics, Flavia consults in the pharmaceutical industry, is a member of Catawba Freedom Readers and screens movies for the Footcandle Film Festival.

Kimberly Turk has been involved in with Catawba County Democrats for several years. She has been an educator for over twenty five years. She feels committed to giving back to North Carolina for the wonderful educational opportunities provided for her while growing up here. Although she has spent most of her career as an educator she is still a scientist in her heart. Her love of biology and investigating through experimenting and research has never dimmed.
Deborah Hollingsworth, 3rd Vice Chair

Deborah is a fixture in state and local Democratic politics. She has served locally as a precinct chair and as Kim Bost’s campaign manager in 2018. Deborah has also been active with the NC Democratic Party, serving on the Council of Review. Deborah currently serves as 2nd Vice Chair and is one of CCDP’s State Executive Council members. Outside of politics, Deborah works at a local accounting firm and is Secretary of Catawba Valley Heritage Alliance where she helps preserve natural spaces, blueways and trails.
Kevin Sparks, Treasurer

Kevin Sparks studied Math, Physics, and Economics at Duke, receiving an AB in Economics in 1979. Earning a PhD from The University of California, Davis, in 1986, Kevin worked on experiments around the world as a post-doctoral fellow. He joined Corning’s optical communications business in 1996, where he was Director of Advanced Technology. Having retired from Corning in 2022, Kevin is pursuing his passion for woodworking, rock climbing, and hiking North Carolina’s mountains. He, his wife and their two dogs live in Hickory. Kevin is the lead of the Catawba Freedom Readers, a group speaking out against censorship and in favor of academic freedom in our schools.
Rebecca Alt, Secretary

Rebecca was elected Secretary in June 2022 to complete the term of Toni Abernathy. Outside of politics, Rebecca is an Assistant Professor of Communication at Lenior-Rhyne University and also where she goes above and beyond in helping with the LR Theatre productions, including dance choreography.
